If you've uninstalled Edge, could you please try this?

Hi, certain things are hard-coded to disrespect your choice of default browser and so launch Edge.

If you have chosen to remove Edge, the question becomes, "What happens when that occurs?"

Here are a couple of easy ones to try.

    1. Choose a link on the Lock Screen e.g. the text in the middle of the screen - mostly that should open Edge after you log in with information about the location portrayed.

    2. Choose any News and Interests item and click on that.

Please post a screenshot of what you see as a result if there is something, and if nothing, please advise that.

I've asked 3 people in threads where they have removed Edge and sought help of one sort or another, but sadly none have responded.

    Thanks!

    Hi dalchina.
I see no one has replied so far. Forgive me for being a bit "longwinded".
I'm one of those who believe I've "totally" removed edge from win10 but we both know that's not possible without trashing the os.
I have however, picked edge apart "piece by piece" so that it is no longer functional and cannot be reinstalled, not even through a direct download. I have done no damage to the os and removed all visible traces of it in the gui itself as well. The first 6 screen shots are places you would normally see edge entries but are now gone. Just want to prove that I'm not just using edgeredirect alone, which makes the internal links function with Firefox in my case. The last 4 screenshots show the internal links opening in Firefox, wich lead to a bing search of Microsoft. Bing is not my default search engine. Without using edgeredirect the internal links are dead and do nothing. So is edge totally removed? No, but it is a ghost. Dead and Invisible.

@fishingfool - thanks for responding so thoughtfully.

Without using edgeredirect the internal links are dead and do nothing.
    - for clarity, presumably the same applies to Lock screen links and News and Interests, does it?

    Good idea to use MSEdgeRedirect...

Only if I had Win 10 in a VM, plus I've plenty to do without actually spending time doing that, whilst there are people who already have.

It will soon be possible to uninstall Edge in the European Union to comply with the law, I don't know which one anymore. Other things may also be uninstalled and/or corrected to comply with the law.
It is not certain that Microsoft will make a rectified version of Windows 10/11 for the whole world, it will probably be a version for the EU. And not for the United Kingdom which is outside the EU.

    Google search...

It puzzles me that after all that ruckus a few years back when the EU insisted on a browser preference choice, that some things are hard-coded to use Edge, and MS hasn't avoided that, and nor has the EU taken issue.
Maybe they've got more important things to do - like trying to hold the EU together, immigration, and EU accession of- is it 11 countries?

Thanks- you may have set your lock screen to a slideshow of your own files, for example, rather than Spotlight (tutorial available).

    Correct

Exactly why I didn't use revo. I did not want to use a brute force attack. There are too many tenticles with edge.
The only thing that is broken are the internal web links that use edge. Thats why I use edgeredirect as a workaround.
Everything else is fully functional. I also did not want edge to be "reinstallable". I have taken extra steps so that it can't be. I haven't had a single crash or freeze in over a year.
