Sounds good- must admit more recently I've been deterred with various MS-promoting pop-ups that appeared.
It seems to becoming a little more insidious....

I've rarely used it- and do have MSEdgeRedirect installed.

It puzzles me that after all that ruckus a few years back when the EU insisted on a browser preference choice, that some things are hard-coded to use Edge, and MS hasn't avoided that, and nor has the EU taken issue.
Maybe they've got more important things to do - like trying to hold the EU together, immigration, and EU accession of- is it 11 countries?
I was also perplexed like you. It's a new law, heavy and in the tough too , Digital Markets Act (DMA).

“The Digital Markets Act (DMA), intended to put an end to unfair practices by digital companies, is due to come into force on November 1(2022). This is an opportunity for the European Commission to take stock of its scope of application and his calendar.

Proposed by the Commission in December 2020, then approved by the European Parliament and the Council last March, almost in record time for a project of this scale, the Digital Markets Regulation (or DMA) comes into force on 1 november. However, it will not yet be applied in practice. A two-year timetable has been put in place to help the large digital platforms covered by the text, called “gatekeepers”, prepare for this new regulatory era. But before that, let's refresh our memory a little as to the main obligations and requirements arising from this regulation.(...)"
