How To Backup Profile Etc In Thunderbird 115 With New Instal ?

In the past I have backed up previous versions of Thunderbird fine by copying the whole Thunderbird folder andt hen on new instals replacing the newly created Thunderbird folder with the old one.

Is the current process still the same ?
    Thank you

Thanks for your quick reply. I hadn't done any research as of yet because I assumed it would still be possible to use the old method.

Basically I'm using the new TB in as near possible to the old way, and not interested in any of the new features of the programme whatever they may be, so will not be using the new inbuilt export tool.

Thanks however for the links you provided.

Depending on when you last made your backup, the only thing I've seen change is it complains if the version that was backed up is started on a newer version of Thunderbird.

Other's may have more information on what to do, but two ways around it are:

Reinstall Thunderbird with an archived copy of the same version of the backup, then update Thunderbird.

    Or

Delete the compatibility.ini file in the profile folder and let it be recreated. Not guaranteed to work 100% though, probably depends on how far apart the versions are.

It's possible this Export / Import utility avoids all this, but I don't use it cause it's limited to 2G profile folders.
