Re: problems with this Dell laptop

I am about a nats hair from chucking this Dell laptop in the dumpster and buying 1 with eather Win 7 or XP on it. Now I can't get Dream Mail to talk to eather Gmail or MSN. Dream Mail was working with Gmail. I can work Gmail and MSN via Firefox just fine. But I can't find a off line mail reader that will read ether Gmail or MSN like Dream Mail did. And I gave away my SDR HF (software Defined Radio) radio, because I thought there was a problem with the radio. The software wasn't reading the radio. It turned out to be a problem with the software for the radio not liking Windows 10. The guy I gave the radio to said the laptop OS had to be down graded to Windows 7.

Hi, I've not heard of Dream Mail - I found this 2012 review
    DreamMail Review.

    - suggesting it's a very old program.

Thunderbird works with my gmail account.

If you try to use programs that are very old you may well encounter problems- for example, nothing that uses 16 bits will work with a 64 bit O/S. Many other possible causes on incompatibility.

Want to use old programs? You have some options.
    a. Try compatibility mode
    b. Find a workaround someone has discovered
    c. Run e.g. Win 7 as a virtual machine in a window under Win 10 - e.g. using Virtual Box (free), and install your program under Win 7.

There is a current version of Dream Mail, type "dream mail.com" into Google search. But every search comes up with the Chinese version not the English that I am looking for. And some versions come up with a PDF converter that I don't need.

About your original SDR problem. Is your Win10 laptop running any third party security software (examples: Norton, McAfee Total Security)? Software Defined Radios need ports and these security programs can be overly aggressive in blocking ports.

I downloaded the portable version of DreamMail from Softpedia and it's English.

Yes it is really old, not updated for years and should not be used:
