How do I "start" clean with Sync data in MS Edge

So a few days ago - I got slammed by the Edge update to v116 - that somehow turned Sync back on (forcefully) and proceeded to bring down a whole boatload of crap from my MS account from what felt like 8 months ago.

Luckily - I backup ALL my Edge profile data daily so I was able to reconstruct the settings as I want them to be. I have also locked down EDGE from ever allowing sign-in or sync until I figure out how to get that sync data up to current.

Given the above scenario - is it even possible to:

    1. Clear ALL old crap from my MS Acct
    2. Gingerly turn Sync back on in EDGE so my current settings sync with my MS account and become the new baseline?

My fear for #1 is - my settings are perfect right now - but as soon as I even attempt to sign back in - I feel like that old crap from the MS account is going to immediately come back down and ruin my layout again and I will have to reset all over again.

    Ideas?

    Sonic.

    Hi, you might try
How to Reset Sync in Microsoft Edge Chromium

If you are having problems syncing browser data across your signed-in devices, you try resetting sync.

Resetting sync will delete your browsing sync data from Microsoft servers. Browsing data on your devices will not be deleted.
    - but note:
The Reset sync button will only be available if you turned on sync.
