    Question About New Outlook Mail

Hi: I was trying the new version of outlook mail...it is not bad and i like the way it looks but there is one thing i could not figure out...Is there a way to get new mail alerts (when a new mail comes in) for both a sound and a pop up notification like you have on the old version of windows mail? (which works great) for both outlook and my gmail account that i have connected to both the old and new version...

If so, please describe how to get it set up...I am using Windows 10 by the way...
    Thanks

Hi Brink and thank you for that excellent tutorial...

Unfortunately on my windows 10 laptop, while the old version of windows mail works great and i get both the sound alert and pop window when new emails come in, i have all the settings you illustrate in your tutorial but i am not getting the sound nor the pop up windows when new mail comes in...and i have no clue why that is...

Outlook for Windows is still a preview app, so there may be a bug for now causing this.

Yep...i believe you are right...it is likely a bug...the other functions in it seem to work well... i may just go back to the old version for now... if i didn't get the sound in my cell phone i wouldn't know that a new email has arrived...

Is the app running? I be;I’ve it needs to be in order for the notifications to show.
Also do notifications for other apps/programs appear? If not then check to see if active/quiet hours is enabled & if it is turn this off.

Thanks for the tips... Funny thing is it kicked in this morning and i started getting the same sound and pop ups that i do on the old windows mail...but then i had to go fooling around with changing my default email and lost it again...

I set my default mail back to outlook and hopefully it will kick back in...seems like it takes a day or two to become enabled....

    It works really good otherwise...

    Brink...
i could not get the new Outlook mail to send the pop up and sounds when a new email comes in but wanted to let you know that i found a work around ... I use the Edge Browser and there is an Edge extension called Notifier for Gmail (Gmail is my main email account) I added it and pinned it to the task bar on top of the browser and it shows how many emails you have waiting and you get the same sound and alert pop up you get on the old windows mail

So...it works great and that will work fine for me and allows me to keep the Outlook email program...

The new Mail is definitely broken. It uses almost 500 Mb of memory!

The old Mail uses less than 30 Mb of memory.
