I notice my Word and Excel shortcuts have been restored to the Start Menu pinned entries, Titanic-start-menu-shortcuts.png I can also find and click on Word and Excel files directly and the file will open (don't know if Word or Excel was ever a problem)
Unfortunately, because Outlook was never a pinned item??, I have no way of clicking on an Outlook item, Powerpoint, OneNote, etc. item because there seems to be no way to access these programs because I've not created any documents formatted for them and no way otherwise to open them...

But wait...maybe all I need to do is locate an Outlook.pst file and double click it on it?!?!
    Titanic-outlookpst-open.png

Then searching and finding many outlook.exes and trying the only one that looks applicable.

    It does NOTHING.

    Denis

That was only in regard to my initial attempt to repair the 365 Office Suite.

Currently, there is only the expected, (notice top highlit item) Titanic-ms-start-menu.pngMicrosoft 465 item (all the rest are Microsoft related!!), which when you click on it Titanic-office-click.png

Note" Clicking on Outlook (side panel) returns nothing. (clicking on word returns previous Word docs, etc.)

Yes you should! It basically means that the office suite has full integrity.
Did you try Outlook and open your Outlook file?
If it still would not open, did you try the Outlook file repair (link) I sent you?

Yes (I had to do a whole lot of backtracking) and nothing's worked. [I saved a number of past (not corrupted, but I have no idea whether Microsoft corrupts the files) Outlook.pst files to a removable thumb drive] and now can see no way forward (which I say with [negatively] bated breath except to contact MS Support.

p.s. Obviously the 365 Suite has no integrity because, Outlook doesn't work.

I've spent an hour now trying to get Microsoft support to call (then take over my computer...) in order to have Outlook365 repaired/installed/whatever and Outlook.pst repaired so that I can see my schedule; my contact profiles; everything...

Usually bringing up one of the Microsoft documents and attempting to follow their instructions eventually gets one to a place where support is available but this time Microsoft will not relent at all. At one point Microsoft actually brought up their free Outlook app (not Outlook365) and thought it would suffice!

Is there a tried and true way to get Microsoft Support to call?

I'm relieved to say a Microsoft Tech was able to get Outlook up and running AND was able to import an Outlook.pst file into the app.

Though I had specified an Outlook.pst file that was the correct size (~7.3 GB), only about 5.4 GB had been imported when the computer shut down. We tried it again with the correct +7GB file (and the instruction to delete identical entries) and when the import was complete Outlook.pst was +11.x GB large. I just looked at it now and it's at ~9.02 GB and fluctuating. (strange)

I'm going to have to review this thread--there's so much I learned--before I mark it solved.

OH, I thought it was just a weird new interface, this one Titanic-office-click.png
but THE MICROSOFT REP TOLD ME all the apps you can bring up using this window are ones operating on the web!
Did any of you know this?

BTW The rep did the normal things when inspecting my Outlook profile, File/Account Settings /establish a new profile /Generate an App Password/ finish off the profile for testing purposes... that I've seen before when they're dealing with an Outlook problem.
My Question Is there a Tutorial covering this?

I'm really sorry I was unable to do this all on my own--I thank everyone who encouraged me to.

    JRO,

    No need to apologize!
This forum is here to help people (unlike another "forum" for speech to text software where I encountered recently, withholds and keeps secret solutions but offers you to help [without guarantee] if you pay for it. In my case they wanted $175!)

This here is a very good forum, actually in my experience one of the best with quite a few competent people who honestly try to help and solve issues. You can "thank" anyone if they helped you.

Seriously, I'm happy for you that you had solved it. I know to well myself that "stripped naked" feeling when important data seems to have vanished or is inaccessible including the backups and whatever else!

As for the interface, although I have been chastised for my general remark in this regard often, it is part of a gradual brain massaging the user into all apps being online/cloud for which, some in part are already, but in the future for everything apps you use including the OS, you will have to pay monthly to the big corporation to be able to use it. Nevermind what other control and access they have.
All as mentioned to me once firsthand from an ex employee.

With that I consider your case closed.
Best of "computing" to you in all your ventures!
Come back often to visit and don't hesitate if you have any computational-configurational-operational whatever issues!

PS have one golden rule of all: backup, backup, backup, backup, verify, backup, verify....!
