    "Secure Connection Failed" Problem

All of a sudden I could not access the homepage
of every one of the four browsers that I use, namely:
Firefox, Edge, Pale Moon, and Waterfox. All other
websites are available. The homepage is:
    " Google Advanced Search "
Instead I get a " Secure Connection Failed " message.

    What could be the problem?

There are few things you can try.

    1. Click start button and select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
    2. Copy code below and right click into console to paste and press enter
    Code:
    cat C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
    3. Take a screenshot of the output and post it here

    - verify time on your computer is correct
    - if you're using HTTPS add-on disable it
    - if your web browser is configured to auto upgrade HTTP to HTTPS, disable this option.

And, which firewall are you using?

Try the following URL instead, does it work?
    Code:
    http://www.google.com/advanced_search

The link worked for me. What Internet security software are you using?

    B. I use Windows Defender Firewall.

    C. "www.google.com / advanced_search" is what's inputted in the Settings. It's also what I entered in the post. This editor must have changed it. (For this post I surrounded the forward slash with spaces).

    D. The time is correct (same as to what's on my cell phone).

    E. Thanks for your help.

Can you please also answer whether you have option enabled or add-on which upgrades HTTP to HTTPS automatically?
Also please try with link I gave you in my initial post, does it work?

Other things you mentioned look fine.

    Since it affects all browsers:

    Change DNS:
Change IPv4 and IPv6 DNS Server Address in Windows

    Choose from:
    7. To Use Custom or Third-party DNS Server Address

EDIT: Will require a reboot. Before rebooting hard reset router. (There's usually a button to press or a hidden button accessed via a hole that you poke a pin through)

Also before you do that try typing a website address here and see if it works:

Forget that web kick advice. It won't work with:

    Google Advanced Search

    Try the rest.

    Also try here:

KPROXY - Free Anonymous Web Proxy - Anonymous Proxy

Type or paste your Google Advanced Search link and see if it works there. It it does then it points to a DNS lookup issue.

If you can't get there using a proxy then it's some other issue.

I never installed an add-on which upgrades HTTP to HTTPS.
But I noticed a padlock icon before the url when this trouble appeared.

    Entering
"http://www.google.com / advanced_search", (space added on either side of the slash)
    instead of
"https://www.google.com/advanced_search", (space added on either side of the slash)
    works!

You must be having some misconfiguration with SSL on your system.

See this docs for more info and if you want to troubleshoot:
