Can I remove the "Try the new Outlook" toggle in Mail & Calendar app?

Hi,
The "Try the new Outlook" toggle in the Windows Mail & Calendar app takes up a great deal of room on the action ribbon. Is there a way to remove this?
I see from this Microsoft Answers thread that it can be removed from Outlook 2016 & newer. Involves modifying the registry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General (DWORD HideNewOutlookToggle from 0 to1)".
However, modifying the registry has no effect on the app. Hoping there is away to do this in the Mail & Calendar app as well.

Awoke this morning to discover the "Try the New Outlook" toggle is gone from the Mail & Calendar app
Someone must have been listening.
