    Popups in Google Chrome

    Suddenly I am getting so many popups in Google Chrome. I am pretty sure Chrome has a built-in popup blocker.

    How do I turn it on???

    Thanks

    Hello, huffman.

    I have never used Google Chrome browser, so can't say with certainty. But hopefully the following will help...

    Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Computer - Google Chrome Help

    Also, I suggest you scan with an AV, Windows Security/Malwarebytes etc...

    Best of luck.

    Block notifications
    On your computer, open Chrome. Go to the site you get notifications from. Click View site information . Next to "Notifications," select Block from the drop down menu.
    If after trying what WXC said then run these 2 programs !

    Malwarebytes AdwCleaner >>> Download AdwCleaner

    Please download AdwCleaner and save it to your Desktop
    * Close all open programs and browsers
    * Right click on the icon and select Run as administrator
    * Click Scan now
    * Allow the program to Quarantine what it finds except for Pre-installed applications if you would like to keep those or other entries you would like to keep
    * When completed click View Scan Log File
    * Copy and paste the contents in your reply
    * Click Skip Basic Repair if it appears then close the program

    ===========

    Full System Scan with Malwarebytes Antimalware >>> https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download
    * If not existing, please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
    * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
    * At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

    * If the program is already installed:
    * Run Malwarebytes Antimalware
    * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    * Once the program has loaded, select Perform fullscan, place a checkmark on all hard drives, then click Scan.
    * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    * When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
    * The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
    * Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
    *** Post that log back here or just tell me what it found ?
    If it is to long then you will have to zip it or find a site to download it to & let me know where !

    No, Chrome does not, nor ever had a built in pop-up blocker. No Chromium based browser has had one unless it was a extension or a extension coded in the skin.

    flashh4, for about 10 minutes I thought that had worked, then they started again. I have no idea why there was a delay and NOT as many popups. I know there are some popup blockers around and I have used them many years ago and did NOT care for them.

    Thanks for the response.

    Post a screenshot of the pop up so that we can see if it's a pop up or maybe a web push notification. If the latter see Chrome Step 6.

    EDIT: The link refers to fake Macafee notifications but step 6 is for any site that is currently allowed to send notifications that you want to remove.

    @huffman, you might also try this. I had it in my files that worked for some users !

    On your computer, open Chrome.
    At the top right, click More More and then Settings.
    Click Privacy and security and then Site Settings.
    Click Pop-ups and redirects.
    Under "Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects," find the site.
    To the right of the site, click More More and then Block.

    If the site isn't listed, next to "Not allowed to send pop-ups or use redirects," click Add. Enter the site's web address, and then click Add. To capture all pop-ups across the site, use the pattern [*.]example.com.
