Chrome was able to get to the login screen today and I haven't changed anything. I didn't delete the cookies and other site data. I see no way of contacting WeTransfer. In the past, Chrome has worked fine with the login and I'd keep myself logged in until somehow I got logged out.
There is a thread about memory leakage in connection with browsing.
Maybe it also applies to your issue.

I have a feeling you found the problem - memory leak. I only have 8 gigs of RAM. Most of the time I have lots of tabs open on Chrome. Today I had only 3 other tabs open and it worked. Chrome can be a memory hog and it will show you how much RAM is used by each tab.
I also tend to have Task manager open to show the memory used, because I've had problems with the computer crashing if the usage gets too high. Sometimes if I close and reopen Chrome it will fix the memory use. Also I never log out of WeTransfer, but sometimes it's logged out by itself. Even with a lot of tabs, I imagine Chrome will work if I'm already logged in. Next time Chrome won't log into WeTransfer, I'll try it with only a few tabs, I bet it'll work. I'll let you know - thanks for the excellent help.
Glad that the issue seems solved. It depends on the procedure you use. I never have several tabs open. All my links of interest are in a folder on my desktop and in principle the browser is off. Opening a link is always very fast. RAM in my case is also 8 Gb and I have never the feeling that it should be more.
For the last few days I've tried to have only 1 tab open in Chrome and even close all other programs and wetransfer still couldn't log in. But today Chrome said it updated and added a new memory saver feature. I then tried to log in to wetransfer and it worked. So maybe this will fix it, but if it doesn't I have several ways around this now. Thanks for all your help
Lately I've just used Chrome for wetransfer, because once you log in it almost always stays logged in, so I can send just fine. If for some reason I find I'm logged out and I can't log in I'll just use Opera
You could always use a portable version of Firefox or Chrome or install Ungoogled Chromium...

Most importantly, if you haven't you need to clear cache and cookies in Chrome. It WILL mess things up.
Since Chrome is such a RAM hog and I only have 8 gigs of RAM I may try one of these. If I use the portable Chrome or the ungoogled chromium, will both of those apps retain my history and bookmarks? I do sign in to Chrome and the history on my upstairs computer is also saved on both computers. Can I use the old Chrome and the 2 alternative chromes and it automatically combines the history and bookmarks for both?
I assume the portable Chrome app lives in the cloud and not on my computer. I do go to the settings in chrome "see all site data and permissions" and search for wetransfer and delete all that data. I also have to do that for my online banking sometimes. I don't like to delete everything just the ones causing the problems.
You probably could sync everything when you sign in to your Google account in either portable Chrome or Ungoogled Chromium. If you're massively tied to Google, then I don't recommend messing with Ungoogled Chromium then. That project is more about cutting ties from all Google while still being able to use the Chromium based web browser. Add one extension or sign in to a Google account in Ungoogled Chromium and it's all over in terms ofhelping curtail the privacy invasion...
Actually, looking at the notes from the portable Chrome link, it doesn't sync passwords due to how Chrome works... So, try portable Firefox instead and see if you still get wetransfer errors. I doubt you will.
The browser cache (temp storage) in Chrome can be safely deleted. All of it! Retaining cache and cookies for long periods of time can and WILL cause issues. I've seen it many times. So you can still easily log back into a website. Though, as a cybersecurity guru, I don't recommend using the browser to save passwords. Passwords stored in a browser can be hijacked in more than one way. I know of two ways to do it. I can decrypt the files right on my computer... So if I can do it, so can some hacker. You wanna use a password manager like Bitwarden which at this time of writing I highly recommend. They're not perfect though, but compared to the others out there that I've took the time to read about is a lot better. Though, the very best of the bet is rolling your own and backing up your own database periodically using the Keepass password manager. I use that myself and Keepass has a plethora of plugins to expand upon what Keepass does already. Like 2FA (Two Factor Auth) capability using the KeepassOTP plugin. The Aegis Android App can do 2FA as well. I use that too. You won't see me using crap like Google Authenticator or Authy and the likes... Especially since 2FA is just a one time password based on Base32 (a math scheme. We count in Base10)... In other words - you don't need a company's propitiatory spying crap software for 2FA like Authy or Google Authenticator, etc.
Anyway, I can get to the wetransfer website just fine, so can others. I strongly feel like it's your Google cache and cookies mucking things up. So to rule it out. Dump cache and cookies or use Firefox portable.
No, a portable App like portable Firefox or portable Chrome or portable -pick your App here- is not some cloud based program or App. It's just made to be a standalone App with no dependencies and registry entry dependencies. These portable Apps are probably made with VMware's ThinApp program, which is very expensive I might add. What they or anyone can do is take a program, and if possible turn it into a stand alone portable version using VMware's ThinApp. Now you can run it straight from a USB flash drive, network connected hard drive or what ever. Yes, this means the cloud. But that doesn't mean a portable App is some "cloud thing." Portable Apps have been out on the Internet for download waaaay before the term "cloud" became the Norm.
