It is obviously a one use authentication code.

i could login to my gmail account fine without the use of this code

and i never receive such email before from google

i forgot to mention in my above posts that this email was sent to another email account which is listed as recovery email address for my gmail account

It's possible that someone trying to recover their account mistakenly typed their email address when attempting recovery. (In other words typing your email address by mistake).

So that would depend upon how unique your email address is.

Example:

becky.andrews at gmail dot com
beckyandrews at gmail dot com
beckyandrews22 at gmail dot com
becky_andrews at gmail dot com

So if Becky Andrews attempts account recovery and types in the wrong email address the email gets sent to the wrong person.

You'd be amazed at how many people type the wrong email address into forms especially when stressed.

Well if it's what I think it is - an incorrectly typed email address then the message could be region specific based on the account holder's location/ language.
