How to disable Edge background image?

Microsoft Edge v111.0.1661.62

Does anyone know how to disable background image?
In the past it was easy, but it seems that almost with every update Microsoft is introducing something new layout thing that you do not want and you have to waste time on trying to get back what you are used to.

Tried with customize background - change it to 'Off' but that options seems to have removed(?)

Not sure how, but after trying and trying I finally got back the layout that I had.
Regretfully, the 'turtle' background came back again... sigh..

It is the newtab page
edge://settings/startHomeNTP
then New Tab Page [Customize] at the bottom
then Edit Background
then switch off
I get what want, but after reload, background is 'On' again.
doesn't stick...

Thanks. I'll try to remember that.

After all fruitless attempts yesterday, I did not go on anymore, trying to 'fix' this.
Peculiarly enough the layout that I was used to got back today.

My settings:



No idea what happened though.
No version update.
