They don't? They are literally at the top of the umbrella grasshopper, like the very tippy top industry leaders also with the biggest market share in a few areas of computing. Just look over this table they own a lot of subsidiaries and acquisitions. So several companies which include IT and web, Gaming houses, Telecommunications, Software distribution, Music and all sorts of other areas and its also big table.

List of mergers and acquisitions by Microsoft - Wikipedia

They really are at the front of the line guy.

    - - - Updated - - -

ActivisonBlizzard will be their next big acquisition which means they will now be a monopoly in the gaming industry well they already are but they will be even bigger. They already own Bethesda which means ID software too and Mojang and Bungee software the most notable ones but with actiblizzard they will be a big monopoly on the game market soon aswell.

    - - - Updated - - -

All they need now is google which also means YouTube and then Facebook and they basically hold all the big players. They already own things like Linkdin and Github and i am sure that table will be missing some companies on there because Wikipedia is not always 100% accurate for several reasons.

    - - - Updated - - -

Jumping the gun here because i don't think they have actually acquired the company yet but it is touted that if they do its going to be the biggest acquisition in the whole of gaming's history.

List of largest mergers and acquisitions - Wikipedia
it will be ranked number three on the biggest merge deals to date. Side note looking at that table Broadcom semiconductors looks to be potentially acquiring by VMware too which is news to me but is interesting to know to those who are interested computers.

Market cap for Microsoft Microsoft (MSFT) - Market capitalization
Meaning they have lots of leverage almost they can buy anything they want if the deals happen. Number 2 biggest company in the world and yeah sure they are not a monopoly i guess.

    Let me close this thread.

The OP ripped out a bunch of the Windows OS using 3rd party tools, had technical problems but of course the OP couldn't tell microsoft tech support of what he did. Of course telemetry is going to look weird on microsoft's end. He was wasting everybody's time because he didn't tell Microsoft support plainly what he did to his own computer.

All the talk about being able to track somebody else's laptop is not true because the OP only used his friend's laptop to look at his hotmail email. All he got is from his microsoft account page is a history of devices that signed into his account. If you set up your account correctly, they would have sent you a message to your phone asking you "is that lenovo laptop that just signed into your account really you?"

The OP would not have been able to track his friend's computer because the OP never signed into his friend's laptop as an administrator. The OP was mistaken that it was because when the OP set up his friend's computer, he disabled location.

Monopoly is not just 100% market share with no competition if that is what you are trying to imply, it is also leading companies in industry that have the leverage to control and basically dictate markets which Microsoft has this sort of leverage.

Side note how Microsoft tries to diminish its competition be proprieatrizing industry standards.
Embrace, extend, and extinguish - Wikipedia

Example some people say the first classic Xbox is the de facto Dreamcast 2 i am one of those believers and they shafted SEGA as competition, basically stole the tech to boost Microsoft's portfolio and to promote Direct X as a subset of Windows its flagship product. They did say things at the time like "Xbox is basically just a computer"

There is many factors why companies like this buy up others as subs one reason is so they can control the market.

So... businesses, hospitals, dentists, government at the local, state and federal level and most of the public at large are all using Linux?

Mankind has seen this before with Carnegie Steel, Rockefeller Oil, Edison, the railroads, etc. The names have changed, but the buckas, rich off my ass powers that be remain the same.

Nah, that would be silly. But some use Apples.
