Edge -Updates are underway but do not complete !

I have one computer that appears to have problems updating Edge browser.

Normally on my machines I go to "About Microsoft Edge" and instigate the update manually rather than wait for Edge to update itself over a period of time.

But there is one machine that when I go to the check for updates page I get a message which roughly translates as updates are underway please refresh page later or words similar to this.

However Edge on this one machine continues to say the same message 30 minutes later. As a work around I download the Edge setup file from the official page and let it go through the process and this works fine and the end result is the browser getting updated.

I was wondering if other people have a different solution to this problemsay by uninstalling Edge and then reinstalling ?

When there is no update available ,checking for updates, Edge shows "Microsoft Edge Is Up To Date"

As an update to my earlier post I checked for Edge updates today and it updated from point 43 to 44 successfully.

As the laptop is one of a few I have when they update I go to the suspect laptop without connecting to the internet and open Edge. I then quickly connect to the internet and check for Edge updates and this works too. This way I get the update as I am too quick for Edge and avoid the updates are underway message.
