Proposed Total Overhaul Of Thunderbird Due July !

According to the latest edition of the UK Computeractive magazine (page 7) Mozilla plans to redesign Thunderbird "from scratch" to mark the 20th anniversary of the email client.

The article goes on to say that the new version will appear in version 115 of the software. It goes on to say Mozilla described Thunderbird as an "OLD FRAGILE LEGO TOWER" that needs to be carefully rebuilt to make sure it works for the next 20 years.

What ******** person at Mozilla took the decision to mess with an email service that currently operates efficiently .is easy to use and highly customisable.

There is a link in the magazine to a blog post regarding the new Thunderbird.

So what do they think they could do to make it better, perhaps there thinking is to add adverts to the interface but thats just my opinion of what they may or may not do.

Will there be stalling, authentication errors ,emails disappearing in the new Thunderbirds early days ?

Do Mozilla actually carry out any user research to see what the public wants for Thunderbird or is it just someones vanity project at Mozilla ?

If the date was April 1st (April fools day) I would think it was all one big joke that no one is laughing at !

At this point, I stopped fighting against UI changes or overhauls. No mater what you do, companies just do whatever the hell they want.
It's like Windows. We had a perfectly nice start menu in 10, Windows 11 now made an ads hub... but, did they listen to the backlash? Heck nah...

We can just hope their new UI is better, and they can handle stuff like Microsoft 360 better (Currently it's slow at gathering and sending emails...)

Hopefully they overhaul the 64 bits version, and not the old 32 bits version.
The 32 bits version still runs perfectly on my 64 bits PC.
