    Works randomly for me too.

I solved it by installing Live Mail, no banners or live tile (no will there ever be) but at least I know when I have mail. Plus the interface is just so much better on a desktop ala Windows Photo Viewer.

I just can't understand how something so simple doesn't work regarding email notifications.

Works for me on both machines. Maybe something to do with settings or upgrade(with left overs in the registry) vs. clean install.

I did a clean install and I've checked my settings, they're correct.
Plus there's others experiencing the same issue so I'm inclined to think it's a bug rather than something at my end.

Quite a few mentions of mail notifications not working properly (including mine), if I leave mail running then they seem fine, so to me it looks like something crashing in the background stopping it

Have seen a few reports that a clean install doesn't fix it (though not tried myself to verify)

Hoping for a fix in the big update that is coming sooooon

ooooh a big update! Are they including Media Centre in that?

Yeah it's weird, I got a notification (both banner and sound) for your post but not Cliff's...
Seems intermittent, for me any way.

    try this

open the mail app and adjust the size of the window so that you see the folders list and the mail subject titles (content pane is not there)
now leave mail running like this, don't minimise it

it's not ideal, but I have found if I have mine like this, I get notifications and banners

Yeah I actually had it running (maximised) when I got the last two notifications from your posts.

I wonder, if I go for recovery/reset this PC, this could fix some things ?
