    @csun

    That solution has been hashed not only in this thread but 3 or 4 others as well, even here: Latest Microsoft Edge released for Windows

    It hasn't went well for your tip.

    This below is working so far.

    Disable Microsoft Edge from creating desktop shortcut in Windows 11 Tutorial | Windows 11 Forum
    Updates and still no icon drop.

    Thx Shawn! I'll look into that.
    It's gotten so quiet with this icon business, makes me wonder if MS stopped adding it or if the event had a kill date.

    Anyone else notice a difference?

    I have done nothing to stop the shortcut that was added on the last few Edge updates.

    I did the update to stable channel today and no shortcut. Perhaps they just stopped.

    peace

    Edge updated to 109.0.1518.70 - no desktop shortcut.

    However, one was added to the Start menu.

    Somewhere in Redmond a Microsoft Edge engineer is laughing his/her socks off at us. This is what Microsoft now considers 'customer service'.

    We're no longer 'valued customers', just pawns to be trifled with.

    No changes no icons including Start menu on either the test sys1, or the control sys's . Sys2 where I left the previous icon did not receive a second one.

    Yes but isn't it nice to be needed. . . Somehow? . . .

    I just bought into and perpetuated the myth, with my new win11 box and monitor. IDK, I believe it won't stop until everything computers goes open source.

    Note: you would only have observed the addition to the start menu if you had previously deleted the existing Edge shortcut (which I had).
