Does email client save a copy of the incoming and outgoing email offline in your pc? Does it take up a lot of space in your disk?

"Does email client save a copy of the incoming and outgoing email offline in your pc?"
Yes. Mine does and I imagine that they all do.
It's a setting that you can choose to use or not.
    - My email accounts are set to use POP3, which downloads the whole email to my computer. POP3 is generally regarded as not as secure as the more modern IMAP method.
    - IMAP email retrieval normally just downloads email headers in the list of emails so you can see the title and then it downloads the rest if you choose to view that email. I imagine there's a way of getting IMAP to download the entire email automatically but it's not a subject I know about.
    - I set it to always keep a copy of Sent items. Without that it would only keep the incoming emails. I image there's an IMAP equivalent of that setting.
    - I think most email clients default to using IMAP these days and you'd have to change that to POP3 yourself if that was what you wanted.
    - POP3 & IMAP refer to methods of retrieving email from the email server. There's a third one called Exchange, EAC, but it is less common.
There's a decent explanation in Email Systems... Differences explained - ZigZag MSA forum article ZigZag is highly competent and also explains things well.

"Does it take up a lot of space in your disk?"
    Not really.
But your question is like asking me if my documents take up a lot of room.
As an example, my email notifications from this forum each take up about 40KB.
    - These are ones that I rarely drag into my filing system but they take up storage space even if left in my MSOffice Outlook's data file [its "pst" file - you'll also see references to MSOffice Outlook's "ost" files].

I can also choose whether or not to leave a copy of emails on the server.
On my main computer, I set it to remove them from the server once I have received them. This avoids all risk of filling any limit that my email ISP sets for storage space.
On my small travel computer, I set it to leave a copy on the server so I can sort them all out properly on my main computer when I get home.

    All the best,
Thanks for the rep a couple of weeks ago,
And thanks for the repeated rep earlier today,
    Denis
