I dislike Windows Mail as it is so basic. I still use Windows Live Mail & have Outlook but use WLM more than Outlook.

Android phones (my Samsung Note 20 Ultra) supports Outlook so you can use the app on the phone. Used with CompanionLink (desktop) and DejaOffice (android app), I can sync Calendar, Contacts, and tasks from desktop (or vice versa) to phone.

Outlook also handles other mail services like Google Mail. Simply link your Google Mail account to Outlook, and you can send and receive mail there. I currently have 4 email accounts attached to Outlook including my school's exchange account. All work without issue.

Anyway, for me, Outlook is in my top 5 must have apps

I have used mail.com for years. I like it because it is quick and easy to use. It has a browser extension to tell you if you have mail. It is a free and paid app.

I use Thunderbird email for at least 15 years. You can modify the look if you like.
They have changed the look of the icons and the size of the font and many did not like the new look.
    You can fix that.

If you need to install Windows again all you have to do is backup the email profile folder then after your install of Thunderbird you close the program then simply copy and paste your old profile contents into the new profile name folder and re-open Thunderbird. You now see all your email and contacts as before.

Example Profile folder. Your Profiles name will be different:
    C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\c4zsg392.default-release

See Bvckup Pro 2 post at this link.

Here is an easy way to change the icons and the size of the font and also add in lines to separate the emails.
    Scroll down about half way.
The page also shows how to modify the look of Firefox.

You can google a question on modifying Firefox or Thunderbird and the link usually will go to Reddit website with many how to's there.

Proton Mail — Get a private, secure, and encrypted email

    Simple, stabile and thrustfully.
Not to complicated and secure. Probably boring.

Thunderbird from as far back as I can remember. The bonus feature is the integrated Tasks add-on which I use to keep track of all my ToDo activities (a simple one-liner with a due date, eg. "Change Water Detector batteries & c/f 21m"). Currently have a few hundred tasks going out to late 2026. My only wish is for this to be portable to my phone.
