    Sign in with Google prompt

    I'm using Firefox ver. 108.0.1. running under Win 10 ver 22H2. On several websites I get the infamous popup "Use your Google account to sign in".

    Going into my google account, I tried the recommended: security> signing into other sites> turn off google account sign-in prompts. This did not help. I used other browsers like Chrome and IE and do NOT get the Google sign in prompt on these browsers. Only Firefox.

    I finally just closed out and completely deleted my Google account, and I'm still getting the prompt in Firefox.

    Any idea on how to get rid of this annoyance?

    Can you give us an example of such site?

    But since Chrome don't give you prompts.. could be you have some ad blocker installed or turned on in Chrome.

    Here is an example:

    Survivalist Forum

    Since I seldom use the other browsers I have not intentionally turned on any ad or popup blockers.

    From some of the info I have just read, this may have nothing to do with the settings of your Google account, rather a way for the website to get more information about you through the Google account.

    Agreed. Also, it is just a possibility to sign in into the forums.

    I don't use this option, I like the illusion of some privacy left

    You can turn on privacy protection in Firefox. I'm using other privacy measures. Or just ignore it.

    One thing, I would delete cookies for this site and try again (after restarting Firefox), to see if something changes

    You can delete cookies in Settings / Privacy... / Cookies - select just the site you want to delete, and press del button

    There are a few ways to stop this if you are using some Ad blocking Extensions

    If you use uBlock Origin, open your settings and check the uBlock Annoyances and AdGuard Annoyances lists

    If you use the AdGuard extension, open the settings and enable the main Annoyances list

    If the above does not stop it...

    Add this to your my filters section

    It's built into the page:

    Sign in with Google prompt-librewolf.jpg

    If we check the link we get:

    Sign in with Google prompt-librewolf2.jpg

    And yes you can hide it/ block it if you want to.

    Since its in the page its self. and If the steps in my previous post does not block it for you.

    You use uBlock Origin you can block it, by adding the below to the My filters section (note: the first line is new)

    ||id.google.com^
    ||accounts.google.com/gsi/$3p

    See web site here: uBlock Origin: Block "Sign in to (website) with Google" popup . GitHub
