Unable to set up spectrum account in MS Outlook

I had a POP Roadrunner e-mail setup in Outlook (Office 365) but due to contract change for our apartment contract the Roadrunner was deleted and I now have a spectrum.net e-mail.

I have it successfully setup (auto setup) in Windows Mail and in Mailwasher Pro in my Win 10 installation, but Outlook either auto or manual setup fails.

It would appear to be an Outlook issue, as I have the same problem in Win 11 (I also have this posted on the eleven forum).

    The Spectrun setup:
    SSL on
    IMAP
    Ports 993 and 587
    Authentication on
Server, both incoming and send mobile.charter.net

I can't find anything doing searches to help.

I think you have already seen
Set Up Spectrum Email on Microsoft Outlook

Spectrun support has a chat facility - Spectrum.net

    Best of luck,

I saw those Outlook setup instructions. Some apply and some do not to the current Office 365 version.

I have the Spectrum setup instructions/parameters.

Spectrum chat only knows what the setup parameters are, nothing else about Outlook.

Sadly, if one of those were the answer, I wouldn't be here looking for help.

I would try adding the account manually, via the old control panel, mail applet. You can open it from the File, Account settings, Manage profiles command (if you have a working profile or press Windows key + R to open run and use this command line:
    outlook.exe /manageprofiles

Thanks, but that just leads me to the Outlook add an account panel. That's where I've been trying to add the new account (many times).

Its not a Firewall issue as Outlook is set the same as Windows Mail and Mailwasher Pro who both work OK.

Outlook configured and worked OK with a POP mail account, but not trying to set up IMAP.

You might want to review this link......Looks like they were successful in using TLS encryption on the outgoing server. Is this where you are having your problem?

That's how I'm setting it up except for different server. Parameters published by Spectrum are listed in my initial post.
My version of Outlook has "SSL/TLS" no separate option for just SSL.

I have no idea what the actual issue is in Outlook, it just reports there was a problem. No error code or reason.

    I'm getting closer and not.

It appears all the setup problems are on send, both Outlook and Windows mail.

I tried sending a test message using Mail. It appears to send but it really isn't.

I tried another Outlook setup using the command line. Outlook internal test message shows incoming apparently successful but send ended with error (see screenshot below). Spectrum online chat confirmed the setup parameters and advised no server outages.

I logged on to web email and both send and receive work OK. I sent a test message from web mail and Mailwasher Pro got it.

    Outlook.exe test message error:

As it appears, after much research, that there is some configuration error (corruption) in the Charter (Spectrum) setup for my account.

I can receive mail but cannot establish send on any OS/App and on my iPhone.

I'll be getting back with support today (hopefully someone competent) to get it resolved.

Contacting Spectrum was a waste of time. All he wanted to do is point fingers "not my problem". Having managed a large LAN/WAN Network with multi-vendors I know all too well the "its not my problem" BS.

I did have him delete the e-mail account and have to wait 24 hours to have a new one created. If lucky it will all work.
