Microsoft Edge claims its updating but never does

Microsoft Edge claims its updating but never does. See the image below. I'm using Windows 10 21H1

Please don't say "just download the installer from the microsoft edge website" as I've already thought of that. It's just that little bugs and glitches can often be indicative of something bigger, if the little thing is solved.

Leaving my computer on for hours then restarting Edge, doesn't work.

How to reset Microsoft Edge to default settings on Windows

- Have you Reset Edge ? (above link)

- Current with all other Windows Updates ?

- Ran sfc/scannow ?

- Does your computer stay on at all times ? If so, try a Restart.

I've fixed it now by repairing Microsoft Edge. It'll keep all your existing data (eg. history, bookmarks, extensions) so you shouldn't have to worry about your data being lost.

Every time there’s a new version of Efge, which is a few times a month, it STILL doesn’t update from the about page.

Am I really expected to use the repair option every time I want to upgrade Edge? Surely there has to be a way to have it upgrade from the about page?

I have tried restarting, installing all windows updates and running sfc /scannow

You're right. It turns out that Comodo Firewall was blocking the updater, EdgeUpdate.exe

It's fixed now.
