Inporting logins from firefox csv file not working

I have created logins csv file from existing firefox-latest version 104 and wanted to import them to another pc with firefox and saved the created csv file to usb. When opened firefox on second pc i clicked on import from file option and nothing happened.
Went into About:config and set ......Signon.management.page.fileimport from false to true.
Tried again and saved logins did not appear. The created login csv file is not corrupted.

    Mystified ?

    Have i missed a step somwhere ?

Just goto C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\2y79atfi.default-release & copy the logins & key4 files to whatever new machines you want them added to.

Those files contain your login & passwords. Your default profile folder will probably have a different set of numbers...so will the new machine you're adding them to but the process remains the same.

    Hi Whackbag,
Thank you very much your detailed instructions worked and everything working .I could have entered logins manually as i kept a printed copy a few weeks ago but this would took some time.

    Thanks again.

    Have a nice day

If you sign into Firefox and set ti to sync it does it all for you no need for all that and it keeps it uptodate

When did copy/paste become "all that" & maybe it's a hot take these days but some of us don't want to be signed into everything all the time. I don't need things constantly syncing and doing stuff i didn't ask for.

Convenience makes people dumb, if you know the in's & out's of the things you use everyday you need not rely on anyone but yourself when they go awry.

If it is not the same version of firefox the csv file format of the latest version may be different. To find out, memorize a password and a user ID in the version of the "other pc", export to a csv file and open it to see if the two cvs correspond, web address, user, password...

You also have to set temporarily in about:config the value of security.allow_eval_in_parent_process to true, import your file, then set it back to false.
