    Now Do I Get Rid of This Crap on Brave Browser?

    Brave didn't used to look like this. Privacy window is still discreet but the regular window is a hella mess now. Can't recall if Brave updated recently. I did a cursory look trying to get rid of everything on that home page but came up empty. It used to look just plain vanilla with nothing advertised on it. Input appreciated. TIA.

    As far as I know it's nothing to do with Brave browser. If you've set your home page to DDG then you need to adjust settings:

    DuckDuckGo Settings

    Turn these off:

    Then view the bookmarklet and set it as your home page.

    Then if you clear cookies settings will not revert.

    Bookmarklet looks something like this depending upon the chosen options;

    Code:
    https://duckduckgo.com/?k1=-1&kak=-1&kax=-1&kaq=-1&kap=-1&kao=-1&kau=-1

    Thank you. You were right. It did not occur to me until after posting that it could have been DDG and when I turned a lot of those options off earlier this morning the page returned to plain vanilla. Curious though does DDG update itself because I did not make any changes and DDG has been my home page for a couple of years now and all of a sudden it seemed like I was getting spammed : )

    I've never seen what you see. However I've noticed other forum members posting the same issue sometimes. Maybe you have the DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials addon installed? If so that could explain it.

    The other explanation is that if you don't save and use the bookmarklet URL and just use the usual home page it will revert to using a stored settings cookie. If that gets cleared, cleaned or expires then settings could revert,

    So set the bookmarklet URL as home page.

    Yes.

    Cookies, history and household essentials : ) ostensibly get cleaned out whenever I exit the browser. If I don't like the way the homepage looks now after the tweaks you suggested I'll use the bookmarklet. Opening that bookmarklet in a new tab certainly did give a clean look to the page. Thanks again.

    DDGPE won't cause that unless there is some other (user) intervention - an accidental change of the start page

    Brave settings > Appearance > (re)set the home to your desired URL.

    For mine, I'm using Brave with DDGPE extension and DDG as default search, I don't need a search home page - just use the address bar to search. So, set the default home page to about:blank
