No attachment found in Mail-program, yet an attachment in Webmail

Today I reacted to a supplier because he sended me a mail with a reference to an attachement, but i didn't saw any attachment. Normally I consult my mail on a Windows 10 laptop (version 21H2, build 19044 1826) with the standard Mail programma. The mailbox is configured with an imap connection.

I got the reaction that the mail was send with an attachment.

I looked again. No attachment found. I saved the email as an eml-file, size 85Kb

Then I got the idea to look with the webmail-client. Damned. I see an attachment. Mail saived as eml, size 289Kb

I'v never had this problem before.

Who can explain this to me?
Who can give me a solution?

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to TenForums!

It's possible that you email client removed the attachment, seeing it as potentially unsafe.

Most email clients have a way to set a sender as safe or trusted. If you really trust the sender of the email, you might be able to change settings to allow attachments through.

Otherwise, you might check your SPAM folder to see if it ended up there.

Also, some email clients may be setup to block certain types of attachments, such as .EXE files. If that is the cause of the problem, you might ask the sender to try resending the attachment as a ZIP file to see if it will allow that through.

Hey Hsehestedt, thanks for your reaction.

I was in the (wrong?) idea that when an email client removed an attachment, you could see this (in the local copy?) (by an adapted title, or some added text in the body). And the strange thing is that i see the attachment when using another mail client.

I think that as a receive other mails (even with attachments) from this sender, it is not a problem with the senders-e-mail-adress.
I received the mail in the normal folder, it was 'only' the attachment that was missing. And the attachment was a simple pdf-file.

Thanks for thinking and searching with me.

I've no idea what may be happening, but a web search found this:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...5-b909489295ed
and the first response was from our very own Shawn - and it worked! He provided a link to a tenforums tutorial: Turn On or Off Download External Content in Windows 10 Mail app

    Try that first.

    Hey @mngerhold

After changing the setting in windows mail, I asked the supplier to resend the mail with attachment to me
But the situation didn't changed: the mail has no attachment in windows mail, but in thunderbird i saw an attachment and in the webmail.

The only solution is a change of mail-client.

    Any other ideas?

OK thanks. I was just asking because gmail has made some changes regarding third party app access but it doesn't apply in your case.
