I'm still having this issue without any anwsers

From time to time when I am on a website that has a form or a "upload Image" link As normal a dialog box opens to a folder which I would rather not have that folder be the folder that is called on when I click on a "upload image"

I don't understand why this sepific folder is opening. I asked a few years ago how to set the default folder that opens in that above situation but the thread died.

This continues to be a problem. Example, the folder that opens in this situation is a private folder with private images and to say the less if people were around me when I clicked on a websites "upload image" link it could be a problem if others were around me to see which folder opened. I would think somewhere within Win 10 there has to be somewhere that you can set the default folder to open whenever the situation arises.

No. That setting would somewhere in each particular browser. Which one are you using?

In general, most browsers will remember the last folder you uploaded from and open there initially when you next need to upload an image.

Makes sense, is there a setting that you can override the default "last folder opened" feature in Chrome?

I don't use Chrome, and Google search results seem to suggest this is a common issue, but with no real answer.

I suggest you temporarily rename the 'unwanted' folder so that Chrome should no longer be able to find it. The next time you upload from another folder it may remember and use that one in future.

Thanks for your reply I will try that. Also the folder it opens is on a USB drive that is always plugged in. I could remove that USB drive and plug it in when I need it and that would stop it too.

    I avoid the problem.
    - In File explorer, I right-click on the file I intend to upload then use the SendTo sub-menu to send a shortcut of the file to my Desktop.
    - Then, back in my browser, I click on Upload/whatever & it opens to my Desktop every time so I can select the shortcut.
    - The intended file then gets uploaded.

    All the best,
    Denis

That seems like a good work around but a time consumming one if you have to do it every time. I think ( No, I know it depends on how the website is coded) many website Tenforums for example doesn't do that. many website are now coding the site to allow people to chose and drag anf drop images as a way to upload them.

I'm guessing that the older coding for image uploads are the problems site that open the last folder that was used. It would be simple if Google just changed Chrome to always ask which folder to chose image form whenever ANY website calls for a upload. But Google and "simple" doesn't go together.....lol

    Thanks for your reply
