MS Edge won't close properly.

    SOLVED MS Edge won't close properly.


    I first came across this issue with CCleaner when it asked me to close the Edge browser ( 99.0.1150.52) when I thought I already had done so. But further investigation showed that even when I appear to close MS Edge, when I open Task Manager it is still running. Using TM appears to be the only way so far of properly closing down Edge.

    Anyone else had this problem and found what is causing this issue?

    i don't use Edge , but ran it too see how it closes. Mine closes normally by either hitting the X or menu - close Edge.
    doesn't show in task manager after, either way .
    i did notice though that Edge seems to hog system a bit ? Compared to Brave

    Check under this setting. Make sure "Startup boost" and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed" are off. That way Edge will only be open/run when you want it to.
