Really makes you wonder why after so long, still Duck Duck Go is always very reliable and helpful by contrast....

Edge is a Web Browser, Duck Duck Go is a search engine. What does one have to do with the other?

I've been with Firefox for years who are fine until I read about Duck Duck Go and it's strong emphasis on privacy and non tracking which I decided to try out however Edge appeared instead as you've explained, so now I'm back with Firefox again. Nevertheless Duck Duck Go is a great back up when needed.

No expert on computers at all never will be so great thanks

As stated DuckDuckGo is not a browser and you can use it in Edge if you want to.

    Edge:

Or Firefox or most other browsers.

So you are wrong to compare DuckDuckGo with Edge.

DuckDuckgo is not yet available as a browser on windows but there is an android version for mobile.

    @Arcadian -

For some applications you might wish to consider Tor Browser.
    It's a completely different animal.

DuckDuckGo is said to be developing a desktop browser. (excerpts)

The company says that, just like the mobile apps, the desktop app is built around “OS-provided rendering engines.”

This has allowed the company to get rid of “a lot of the unnecessary cruft and clutter that’s accumulated over the years in major browsers.” It said that early tests have even found the DuckDuckGo browser to be “significantly faster” than Google Chrome.

For now, the app is still in a closed beta period, and this post didn’t reveal any kind of potential release date for the app. But if this app can consistently perform faster than Chrome while offering much better privacy features, then it will have the potential to steal some of Chrome’s users.

DuckDuckGo is planning to launch its own desktop browser

Ok so i found out how to get rid of edge completely and even remove it from the start menu.
Link to the files (make sure to download all files into a folder): File download from google drive

This is how to do it:

1.Find your chromium installation of Edge by going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\<Version Number>\Installer

    2.Copy file path.

3.Open CMD as admin, type cd, and paste the file path then press enter.

    4.Paste this command and press enter: setup.exe --uninstall --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall

5.Now run the script Uninstall Edge.cmd as administrator after a minute.

6.Verify there is no edge in the start menu anymore.

Note i've personally tested this and had no issues with it but this doesn't mean you won't somehow have issues. Remember you are responsible for your own device and i can't be held liable for anything that happens as a result of following this post or using the files. These files do not contain any viruses and are not malicious in nature. I have also used the script that was created by a user named Legolash20 according to this article: Link to article

My method in the post above this one is what you gotta do to properly remove chromium edge on both windows 10 and 11. If you just use the command given in the article you linked it will leave edge in the start menu which takes up space.
