    Relatively safe, easy email provider

Hi. I am looking for a relatively safe, easy email provider. I don't need encryption and don't want to deal with encryption keys or passwords, and don't want the people to whom i send emails to have to use a key or password. I just want a provider that does not scan my email and doesn't use my info/email content to sell me stuff (or for any other reason). I also don't want them to sell my info or content to 3rd party companies or to allow 3rd parties to scan my email. I want to be able to use it easily with Outlook 2013. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Create an account at
    www.outlook.com
as it meets your stated requirements as long as you do not give them any personal information other than what is essential to create the account. If you do not use an MSAccount login to Windows then there is nothing for them to track when deciding what adverts to choose and various browsers claim to be able to stop such tracking anyway [I think Firefox is amongst those that make that claim].

You will have to put your password into your email application during setup but, after that, you'll only need to put it in slightly more often than once in a blue moon.

    All the best,
    Denis

Secure email: ProtonMail is free encrypted email. it's free, web access, very easy to setup an account.

Proton is a very good Provider. It's possible to use it with Outlook mail client but due to Proton's safety it needs some additional configuration while adding the account to Outlook

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I really appreciate it.

Not sure if these suggestions will work for me. As I mentioned, I do not want to deal with encryption and having to use passwords and keys in order to read emails or to have others read them (specifically, i do not want to deal with what is called in-transit encryption - the encrypting of emails as they travel between sender and receiver).

I want to be able to send and receive emails without dealing with these things and I do not want the people I am emailing to have to deal with them either.

But I would like what is called at-rest encryption, which is having my emails, as they are stored on the email provider's server, be encrypted.

And I do not want an email provider who will scan and harvest info from my emails, and i do not want them to allow others to do it either.

And i want to continue to use Outlook 2013 (smtp and imap).

    Thanks.

Using Proton mail is as easy as using any other mail service, for you, and for anyone else you send emails to. You don't have to worry about encryption or keys and the only password you need is to sign into your account the same as any other email service. And as far as privacy goes its probably the best.

In addition to the free Webmail like Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Gmail, I use the E-Mail furnished by my ISP which can be both Webmail and set up in an E-Mail Client such as Outlook, Thunderbird, OE Classic, etc. And I have an E-Mail feature provided by the Hosting Service for my Domain that can also be both types. I like the Webmail as it can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection.
