    Combat slow Dell

My Dell laptop seems to have gone into an old age routine - slow to move. (I'm old so I can say that). I have cleared the cache numerous times. I use DuckDuck for searches and I'm wondering if anyone finds it to slow their machines. Any other thoughts would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Purchased Nov 2019.

Yahoo seems particularly slow. In fact, that is the only one. I just opened a few tabs and went to my main apps and they all opened quickly. What if anything can be done to cure Yahoo. Thanks.

Are you referring to the Yahoo website you are accessing via a web browser - Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos ? In that case try a different web browser to see if it's any better. And what browser are you using?

Have you tried clearing the browser's cache?

    Patrice,

Yahoo is not an application. It's a website.

Are any applications on your computer running slowly or is the problem confined to that website's performance / your [unknown] browser's performance? I think it is just that one thing judging by your last post.

Hi - I am using Chrome browser - sorry yes yahoo is a website not an application. My system seems fine when doing other "stuff" - it seems to be confined to web. I would like to use Firefox but I keep having to sign into too many sites even tho I have indicated on FF to save passwords.
Also - both of your replies ended up in spam folder on yahoo even tho I have received many in my inbox without a problem. Who knows!!
I clear out the cache at least once a week. So, think I'll just put up with yahoo slowness and start checking my spam folder!! Thanks so much.

    Patrice,

    TenForums notifications normally come from
    support@tenforums.com
but there was a time when they came from
    support@tenforums.org
so it would be worth checking if the spam folder ones had the unexpected origin and adding that to your Yahoo account's 'Safe senders' list [which will be somewhere in your Yahoo account's settings but I haven't used Yahoo for so long I cannot suggest where it might be].

    All the best,
    Denis

Thanks to both. Will follow up. Also, browser and search engine--same? I use chrome to get online and when I get there, duckduckgogo comes up as first page. So I guess I am using ddgg. I think it may be slow. Any thoughts? thanks so much.
