    This Popup on Chrome

I use the Chrome browser a good bit and see this popup often. I am just wondering what it means.

It means that you should remove that extension. It's not a trustworthy plug-in.

OK, so it is NOT a good thing. How do I get rid of the popup forever?

Click the three vertical dots at top right, got to More Tools>>Extensions, and remove everything you don't actually want. You cannot do any harm by simply removing all extensions, and Chrome is the faster for it. I only use two security related ones.

PS: Here's a whole bunch of information about this particular extension: Hola Free VPN Proxy Unblocker. I suggest you have a good read.

@huffman - What is your AV ? Your computer specs state you are on Windows 7 ? Thx for posting this info.

@CMArbres - Should an AV also have detected the malware, either blocked with notification, or on a scan ?

I think it was upon attempting installation that Chrome blocked it, so in theory it still has not reached the system.

What MaloK said. In this instance, it does seem that Chrome has protected your system.

I had a VPN (I paid for) at one time installed on all my PCs, but I found it really interfered with about everything, so I removed it.

I am pretty sure Chrome as a free VPN I should look into.

    Thanks much.

The free VPN's in the Chrome Store do not have a good rep. They may give you access to a site and hide your IP but can be easily compromised.

Check the reviews in the Chrome Store and also on the internet.
