New Edge major issue. pages auto scroll to bottom, plus...

plus, it also seems to load tons of pages between link clicks. I have to click back 5 or 6 times to get back to the page I just came from.
This is on Amazon, every single time. It is making it hard to use the site and this browser. It never used to do that. Plus, it refused to load the Ameritrade web trading page to make a stock transaction, I had to call it in.

I cleared the cookies for Amazon site, all 50 of them or whatever, there were lots. But it still doing this strange behavior. You click to view a sale item, the page shows the item, and after 2 seconds, it auto scrolls all the way to bottom of the page. Then after you bring it back to the top, it sometimes autoscrolls a second time to the bottom. After that it wont autoscroll, until you click back a bunch of times and select a new item to view.

I had the same problem with Amazon in Edge when I was Christmas shopping. I could not click to go back normally, had to go through the history to get to any previous page, it was a pain to use but did not auto scroll down, I have no idea what would cause that. I had other touble in Edge with ordinary sites like msn not working or not loading completely and had trouble sending documents back and forth and completing tests on employer web sites when I was job hunting a few months ago. I would send my resume' or fill out an application and the employer just would not receive it. Some online job skill assessments would not load at all in Edge. I had no trouble at all with my job search in Chrome and even switched back to it for a while for other every day use too.

A few weeks ago I tried the new updated Firefox v. 95, it works very well with no problems at all and is now my default browser. Edge has to make a lot more improvements before I will use it again. MS also needs to get rid of the bloat they put in Edge, I do not need and do not want their Amazon price advisor, games and other junk cluttering up my browser. Edge has a long way to go before I will use it again on a regular basis.

I switched back to Chrome and it works fine in Amazon. Edge used to be ok, maybe an update will fix it. It also has an annoying habit of after updates, switching it to open links in new tabs, which quickly fills up the bar. I have to constantly switch it back.

I notice on the click back issue, the page will not change, but it keeps loading slightly different URL's. till it finally gets you back to the list of items page you started from.

You can try this for the scroll issue. I remember having this issue some years back and it was a hassle to find information on how to solve it but I think this was the setting that helped if you would like to try and fix it.

Open the Windows Settings You can do so from the start menu, or use the keyboard shortcut Win + I.
    Click on Devices.
From the left pane menu, click on Mouse.
In the right pane, turn the toggle towards off below ‘Scroll inactive windows when I Hover over them’.
Restart your computer once this is done.

Disable caret browsing. Edge jumps to the page bottom only when Caret browsing is turned on. You can turn it on or off with the F7 key. This setting is in accessibility features.

I do not understand how this "feature"? is even considered useful.

    Hope it helps

For the tab opening problems If you are using bing search engine you will need to open bing home page and use the 3 line hamburger menu to set bing the way you want it to open pages. I choose custom and make the changes then restart the browser.
In edge go to settings from edge 3 dot menu and go to the start/home and new tabs page to set it to what you want. Restart Edge.

After your post, I checked caret browsing, and it was off. Oddly this though, Edge was not keeping its prior tabs open when I fired it up now, it has been shut down for days. And was set back to open links in a new tab. When I restarted, none of my prior tabs were open only a start page. Then I went to amazon and Edge is working properly, so I dont know what happened. I have not restarted the PC in over a week either. So it fixed itself by wiping out a bunch of settings, maybe it did an update, I just dont know. I have had my settings changed often (after Edge updates) without my changing anything after Edge updates for many months now.

Fixed by disabling some Edge services

I had same problem while on amazon using Edge.
It wasn't due to caret browsing, that was already off.
Disabling ‘Scroll inactive windows when I Hover over them’ (then rebooting) also didn't help.

The problem went away when I disabled some services in Edge settings:
In "Privacy, search, services", "Services", turn off those last three:
"save time and money with Shopping in Microsoft Edge"
"show opportunities to support causes and nonprofits you care about"
"show travel recommendations in Microsoft Edge"

I did all 3 and it worked, but maybe only one if them really fixed it, not sure.
