unwanted emails that contain the words support.xxxxxx@xxxx

My wife and I share the same email account. For the last six weeks or so I have been plagued with emails that are addressed to my wife and start with the words "support. xxxxxxxxx@xxxxxx. When I try to apply my junk mail feature, I get the message, "The email address or domain you entered is not valid. Valid entries include: someone@example.com or example.com"

Here is a sample of a partial email "support.XdQF8tgZf9@; on behalf of..."
    Date: 12/26/2021
    To: wife's first name @aol.com
    CC: wife's name @aol.com

The message is generally in bold red and underlined.

I have never clicked on one to see where it leads. However, I have scrolled to the bottom to see if there is an unsubscribe. There isn't.

I have also tried to make a Rule for the word "support." but the rule doesn't work.

Any suggestions? They are never addressed to me but always show up in my gmail through 2010 Outlook.

    Thanks,

Try creating a rule with "support." as a "specific word in the message header".

Never click the unsubscribe link, it will probably only confirm an active email address to the spammer at best, at worst the link could take you somewhere to click another link or enter some details, both of which you do not want to do.
Another trick used by spammers is to include an image (sometimes just 1 pixel in size) that when the email is opened reports back to the spammer, so do not even open these emails.
If you or your wife know for a fact that neither of you are expecting a support email (you have not requested support and/ or the sender is not a company/ service you expect a support mail from) then just deleting the mails over time without activating the report back function should eventually see them dry up.
Making rules for spam only really moves the issue to another folder other than the inbox, but can be of use if you can redirect mail to spam/ junk, then disable syncing of the junk/spam folder so the mails are never downloaded from the mail server.

Thanks for your quick reply! So, basically, I have to trash them by hand as I have been doing.

    Thanks again!

Trying a new tact. Went to the rule I had created for support.com and saw one of the options was to chose my wife's fake email account and send it to the trash. It took over four minutes to trash them all.

Will come back and show this solved when I see no more support,com@.....lairpro.com emails.

It is working. I open my mail browser and see dozens of emails dropping off! Fantastic!
