    Thunderbird and MS Mail

Greeting and Happy Holidays to one and all.

I have been using Thunderbird for many years but recently some friends have suggested I should consider MS Mail as my email client. I have no problem with the email part in this change but in TB I have a calendar with entries for everyday for the last two years and I would hate to lose that information particularly now with all my (and my wife's) Covid-related entries.

Therefore my question: Is there a way of transferring my TB Calendar information to MS Mail Calendar? Any assistance/advice/opinions/gossip in this regard is appreciated in advance.

    Tony.

MS Mail is a much more basic app, with no real way of exporting its settings, for example. Once in, it's hard to get out.

Compare that with Thunderbird, where backing up and transfer to another PC is easy.

FWIW here's how to export Tbird's calendar:

-> you can't import into Windows Calendar app for example.

You will have to pry Thunderbird from my cold dead hands, or when I can no longer run Windows!!!

For portability, my Calendar entries are on MS Calendar with a read only sync to TB. This allows the calendar to be access by my phone. I make extensive use of Tasks and have not found anything similar or a way have access to it from my phone.

Finally, emails that I want to save for an extended period of time are stored in local TB folders. Some people collect photos, videos, antiques... my wife collects emails and has thousands saved over ten years in local TB folders. TB manages this well.

MS Mail is configured on my laptop to access my outlook mail but I never use it. Also have a tab in Edge to access outlook web mail for rare occasions when the presentation of an email is better viewed there (dark mode on TB is problematic for some emails).

    I am the OP.

First of all please forgive the delay in replying. I received my full-dose booster shot (Moderna) and it had some side effects. I spent a few days in bed unable to do anything.

Back to the post: I have read and appreciated all advice and have decided to stick to my old TB. I have never had any problems with it so I figured if it ain't broken, don't fix. Again I thank you all for taking the time and wish you all a happy and healthy 2022.

Happy and healthy New Year. With some luck your future booster shots will only have trivial side effects.

TB should continue to be updated for a long time.
