    Edge Annoyance in Firefox

I recently began using Firefox for MS 365 Outlook Web Access (OWA).

When I log out, there's an annoying promo for Edge and I've exhausted my patience in searches to find a way to make that go bye-bye.

For that (and the same annoyance in the lock screen) there are a zillion "solutions" posted about disabling "Get tips, tricks and suggestions as you use Windows" in System Settings. Which, of course, doesn't work for Firefox. Sigh...

    Something for policies.json, chrome.css or about:config?

Since it's but a minor annoyance that I can live with, a rules based extension is too involved.

Hedz upp: using another Outlook app/client and/or browser is not what I'm looking for either, but in thinking about that for me is otherwise greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

    @Rey Redbad

    Go to Settings > Privacy

Go down the left side, and open each sub-heading, and turn everything OFF on the right side.

    Do them all...

I did all that when I built the PC in February of last year. I do pay attention to updates and visit those settings every now and then. That said, there're a piddling few I won't turn off. Windows Security in Background apps, for example.

I'm at a loss in understanding how anything in there could influence that lovely "feature" in Firefox I addressed in my OP.

    Thanks.

I bet it's overly aggressive M$ and their desire to shove Edge down our throats. If you try another browser like Chrome for your Outlook, I'm betting the same thing will happen.

They keep suggesting Edge in my Windows Search results screen.

I use Firefox too like you

I'm not sure anything in there could either. But with them all off, it's one less thing to worry about.
There will be some "banners" especially when at Microsoft websites, that can't be turned off, without some kind of extension for Firefox. They're part of the website, not the browser.

And it's not just happening to Firefox.

I agree. It's just the web page that's checking what browser's being used, if it's not Edge, it displays the Banner. I have it showing about 5 seconds after opening:

Office 365 Login | Microsoft Office

Just long enough to check the browser value that's passed to it. Sites normally check what browser is being used. I'll often see 'Firefox' listed in my 'recent logins' list for banks and cloud services.

    I believe it's an ad? I don't see it.

Edit, having thought about it, it might be that I don't see it as Edge is my default browser

I think you are worrying about nothing. If I use Firefox on office.com I get the ad for Edge. If I use Edge on office.com I get the ad for Bing. Its just Microsoft advertising on one of their own websites. Nothing new about that. If it bothers you then click on "No thanks" and it will go away at least temporarily.

Reportedly there's now a prompt to use Edge if you try to download Chrome... not tried that myself.
