    Waterfox Classic virtually unusable

    Hello

    Hopefully somebody can help me.

I've been using Waterfox Classic since coming from Pale Moon a few years ago and have been quite happy until recently.

It has been using around 2GB of memory (my laptop has 16GB) and the fan is always at top speed. The pages take long to load and for some reason a page I visit daily now makes Waterfox crash. There is nearly always a few seconds delay when typing until the typed text appears on screen. The cursor sometimes doesn't react. Even typing this has been a struggle.

I have tried turning off hardware acceleration but it makes no difference.

I have disabled add-ons (I only use three add-ons at the moment) but no change in performance.

I've stuck with Waterfox Classic because it was like Pale Moon which in turn was like the old Firefox. Do I really have to try another browser?

    Thanks

Well... I liked the old Firefox... so I made the new Firefox like the old.

Firefox... taming the beast part 2 !!

    I don't use any addons.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the replies.

I have tried other browsers but find I have less control over them.
I have reduced my add-ons in Waterfox Classic to just three. The two important ones for me are Cookie AutoDelete and Adblock plus.
If another browser can allow me to add those on and be a lot more reliable than Waterfox Classic then I'll try it out.

If one of your reasons for preferring the old Firefox is that you want to use the old legacy addons, then you need Firefox version 56 or earlier. Old versions of FF can be found in Portable App form here:

    Hi

So the 'Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition 94.0.2' can work on my laptop and I'll be able to install add-ons?
Will it update automatically and can I transfer all settings and passwords over to it from Waterfox?
