Last I paid attention to the IE logo it was the lighter of the two. But not to worry, IE is going away. It's already gone on Win11 and on my main Win10. Using WinKey + R to get the Run box and typing the executable file for IE, iexplore or iexplore.exe, brings up Edge.

You can easily check that by creating a shortcut to Internet Explorer, then look at its Properties. Try changing its icon and you'll see all the icons contined in iexplore.exe. They all look more like your lighter example.
