Is it possible to prevent Chrome from saving history after you close

I've used CCleaner for several years and now I'm not such a big fan. I still want my history deleted when I close Chrome but so far no luck after uninstalling CCleaner. I read if you change the properties for the history file in the Chrome folder to read only that will stop Chrome from saving your history, well that doesn't work.

Is it possible to prevent Chrome from saving history after you close Chrome without CCleaner?

Consider using an extension. Note: Personally I use a Chrome variant.

    See Main options screenshot here:

    Click&Clean - Chrome Web Store

Or maybe try Ctrl+Shift+Del before you close Chrome and choose what to remove.

    Yes.

Goto Google > Settings > Privacy and Security. You will see Clear Browsing Data and Cookies and Other Site Data, just change them as necessary . . .

There are also other settings there that you can change to suit your needs.

    I hope this helps.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough. I meant that when I close Chrome is there a way to clear all history data without me doing it manually every time I exit Chrome.

Use that extension but configure it correctly. It will auto clear history on closing Chrome.

The fact Chrome doesn't have this built-in while Edge and Firefox do annoys me to no end.

So if you configure the option to clear private data when chrome closes it will delete history if configured.

Just a quick question for my purpose, if all I want to do is make sure when I close my browsers the history is cleared I just have to click "security close browser" I assume click and clean can do this to FireFox as well?
