Can't Download files from MS Edge

    Windows Version: 20H2 (Build 19042.1288)
    MS Edge Version: V95.0.1020.30

    I am running 3 machines:

    1. HP Spectre Win 10 / MS Edge & Google Chrome
    2. ACER Aspire E15 Win 10 / MS Edge & Google Chrome
    3. Apple Macbook Pro MacOS 11.2.3 MacOS 11.2.3 / Safari & Google Chrome

The HP and Acer both run the same versions of Win 10 and MS Edge

I have no problems downloading files from the web on either the Acer or the Mac using either Edge,Chrome or Safari. However on the HP I have problems with both Edge and Chrome with the problems being worse on Edge.

Up until about 2 months ago, I didn't experience any problems. Then, when attempting a download, I would get a "Can't download" message and be presented with a retry option. Generally within 1 or 2 retries the file downloaded. Then gradually the situation deteriorated to required 7 or 8 attempts (with sometimes a new meassage "Will open when complete" and then further worsened to 15 to 20 attempts. Now I can try 30 or 40 attempts and very occasionally I am lucky but mostly I give up.

Does anyone know what could be causing this frustrating behaviour and what can be done to correct it?

Reset Network Adapters in Windows 10

Check the above links and check you internet connection on the HP.

Make sure Edge, Chrome, and Win10 have all updates. Consider updating to the latest Win10, 21H1.

It is several months since this first began and hence I can't recall precisely the circumstances. Only that it began as an occasional problem and then gradually got worse. There have been some updates to the OS since then.

I have also now discovered that by turning off the File Antitvirus Protection on my Kaspersky Total Security Software, the problem goes away. I have posted to Kaspersky to get an explanation of why this occurs on one machine and not the other and how can I resolve the problem. I have not yet received a reply.

It would appear that the Real-Time monitoring module of REImage Repair softwatre that I have install is the culprit. It doesn't seem to like Kaspersky AntiVirus software.
    Thanks to all who responded
