    Moving/organizing bookmarks Windows 10

How do I move a bookmark or, some bookmarks from it's current folder to a new one?
For example: How would I move all bookmarks about widgets from IE to a new folder called "Widgets"?
Plain English please. I am not a computer whiz by any means.

Hello, could you please post a screenshot (picture of what you see on the screen) to illustrate what you want to do?

    Some possible interpretations:
    a. you want to reorganise your bookmarks in a particular browser - the list of bookmarks for that browser.
    b. you want to literally store the bookmarks in a different folder on your disk.
    c. you wish to move bookmarks between browsers

Please also specify exactly to which browser you are referring.

You mention IE by way of an example - most people have stopped using that long ago.

In most Browsers one can use Organize Bookmarks to create new folders as desired and also to Export the Bookmarks to an HTML file to use with Importing to another browser or simply as a Web page. But as @dalchina asks, what is the goal desired? There is a Favorites folder in C:\Users\USERNAME, also a Links folder. And as mentioned IE is going/gone away, putting iexplore.exe in the Run box now brings up Edge in Win11.

    I agree with the others.
I've written out the procedures for some common browsers.

    IE
Your Bookmarks are called Favourites [or Favorites]. They are separate files [*.url files]; IE is unique in this respect, all other browsers think they own your bookmarks & you can only manipulate them in ways that they have decided to allow you to. Your Favourites can be found, by default, in
    C:\Users\%UserName%\Favourites
    [or C:\Users\%UserName%\Favorites]
and moved around / copied / … just like any other file in File explorer.

    Firefox
In Firefox, go to the Bookmarks page using
    Ctrl-Shift-O
and you can drag them around between folders in their FileExplorer-like dialog.

    Edge
This method is not documented anywhere that I have been able to find.
In Edge, go to the Favourites page using
    Ctrl-Shift-O, , Open favourites page
and you can double click on folder names to navigate down to the one you want to move, set its checkbox to select it, press Ctrl-X to cut it [or Ctrl-C to copy it], go back & navigate to your desired target folder then use Ctrl-V to paste it there.
I find it handy to have two Edge windows open for this so I can show the target folder in one & the folder I'm moving things from in the other. I find it easier to avoid getting lost this way.

    Other browsers
Try the Firefox method first because it's simpler.
If it does not work, try the Edge method.
I'd be surprised if any browser failed to allow one of these methods to work.

    All the best,
    Denis

I ask a polite question for clarification, at least respecting the poster, and you deride that? You're on my ignore list now.

    Really?

    Good luck.
