EDGE settings, the dummest question ...

    Hallo,
I changed from Firefox to Edge for RAM reasons... now I wanted to change some settings but Edge doesn't save them.

Is it because I did not log in under my profile name?

Yes, settings are changeable, but EGDE doesn't keep them. Not my preferred search site and also not the notification settings...
    What do I do wrong?

I did of course read Brink's Tutorial for changing the search engine, but I do not find an Advanced settings tab under settings when following the instructions...

You must have viewed the tutorial for Legacy Edge:

See the tutorial for Chromium Edge instead:

That is a great hint. I will sure do. Any idea why EDGE is not permanently accepting my notification choices?

The profile might be corrupted. You could reset browser settings.

Reset Microsoft Edge to Default in Windows 10

There is also possibility to force the search via a policy, but I never got it working.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/Dep...roviderenabled
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/Dep...dsearchengines

I tried this and it did absolutely nothing, lol.
    Code:
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" /v "DefaultSearchProviderEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" /v "DefaultSearchProviderName" /t REG_SZ /d "DDG" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" /v "DefaultSearchProviderSearchURL" /t REG_SZ /d "https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s" /f
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" /v "DefaultSearchProviderSuggestURL" /t REG_SZ /d "https://duckduckgo.com/suggest?q={searchTerms}" /f

"Any idea why EDGE is not permanently accepting my notification choices?"

It is not permanent, however it will not change if you don't do two things:

    1) In the settings never do a Reset.
    2) In Windows Updates at the top panel, world blue dot icon, never do the "Web Browsing, Restore Recommended".

You don't have to sign in for sure, as mine has retained all changed settings ever since it was installed amongst those was a change in the default search engine and many other settings.
