Updating Extensions In Edge

I have four extensions that I use with the Edge browser.
Up until recentl;y i was told that the extensions do not automatically update, I go into developer mode and click update.

Is this still the case and if so why aren't extensions automatically updated ?

Extensions are updated automatically unless you have it blocked by a policy or by a firewall.
You can have some 3rd party extensions, not in the store, those might not update either.
