    Developer Mode On/Off

Hi Folk, I have added 4 extensions to Google Chrome. AFAIK all are installed with Developer Mode activated. Should they be left as they are or not. They are AVG Online Security, Checker Plus for Gmail, Ublock Origin & LastPass.

No. Unless you are a developer you do not need Developer Mode on. All extensions can be added/removed/updated without the need for Developer Mode. The one thing a non-developer can use that mode for is to force an update check, but otherwise all extensions will function/update with the mode off.

Hi again, was I correct in saying all extensions are installed with D Mode 'ON'?

It doesn't matter if it was on or off when an extension is installed. Having it on just give you more options if you are a developer. If you don't plan on doing any developer work I'd suggest just keeping it off.

Is there any disadvantage to having developer mode ON? I keep it on precisely so I can check for updates. Otherwise you have to wait for the update check to happen automatically which sometimes lags.

You are correct. Leaving it on does nothing negative. I used to keep it on just for the manual check, but I since realized sometimes when an update come out, and I update right away, there are bugs, so I turned it off, and am satisfied with waiting a day or so to automatically update in case there are bugs, and they push a .1 update to fix them.

We are talking about extensions, not Chrome itself. Both update on their own if left alone, but you can manually check/update when a new release is ready. For extension turn developer mode on, and check, and for Chrome go to the about page, and it will automatically check.
