How to send a photo via Windows Maill app

    Windows 10 20H2

I am trying to use Windows Mail to replace Office 365's Outlook. I got Mail setup ok including a contact list and calendar.
However, when I try to attach a photo to a new email message I can't get past the New Mail/Insert/Picture part. Picture is greyed out and I can go no further.

    Have I missed something?

Thank you for your help in this.

I don't have a system that has that mail client installed in front of me so forgive me for not being able to provide a step-by-step here, but I wonder if the issue might be that your e-mail is being composed in plain text mode. Take a look at the settings and see if there are any options to allow you to set the format of newly created e-mails.

Hopefully someone else can jump in and provide more detail if you don't find anything like that.

On mine the picture option is grayed out also until I move the curser below the subject line that then it becomes selectable.

Worked like a charm. I can't imagine the logic that made it that way!

    Thank you very much.

Click on the body of the Email Insert > Files or Pictures, and then navigate to your picture.

The Pictures Icon is greyed if you have the Address line or Subject line selected.

" I can't imagine the logic that made it that way!"

The logic is because that is not allowed in the Address line and Subject lines, security consideration as well.
