Hi Barman58, I am not a fan of Chrome sry.

there is MS edge chromium... it says it can import my stuff from Firefox... but idk...

I have been with Firefox since v2.0.0
Me too. But I don't even remember how long. Just FOREVER. As for Edge and all these new ones, they are all jumping on the Chrome bandwagon. Firefox is still the King. From what I can see, the new ones are all clones and not worthy of my attention. I do keep Chrome as a back up. Firefox occasionally stumbles with some web sites. ? I don't know why, but Chrome does open those that Firefox don't like. But other than that, Firefox is always default. As for the "invites". I just ignore them. Unless something catches my eye and I "take a look at it". And usually pass. Very few additions are good or necessary. AdBlock is helpful.

i used to use FF and then moved to chrome but sometimes chrome is just memory heavy!

I used Firefox for years until it annoyed me too often, switched to Chrome for a while until it irritated me, then found Vivaldi.

It is light on resources and has endless configuration options. And most important of all, it hasn't annoyed me once in the past 2 years.

I've been using FF as my main browser since Netscape ended. It's admittedly annoying me now, but I won't change yet. As for Chrome, any third-party app that worms its way onto my computer without my consent becomes my eternal enemy. I even have Chrome disabled on my Android phone.

    Hi Joseph

It sounds like you could benefit from testing a few other browsers. Live on the edge, try something new and you might be surprised & pleased with what you discover.

An easy method to test new software is to use Portable versions. They're not technically installed and operate via an exe file, saved to the Desktop or a USB stick.
Portable versions have only a few limitations like saving usernames & passwords otherwise, they're fully functional to allow you to test the features.

Since this article was produced, Vivaldi now offers a Portable or Standalone version. I have used Vivaldi Standalone when I was testing and still use it occasionally.
My default browser is the installed version of Vivaldi.

    Why so many?

The question I've asked for years is why so many browsers? Yes, we need improvement and updates. And yes, it's nice to have a choice. But it's the same with email servers. Each one of us has to check them out, and hopefully choose the one we like best. And when we find something that satisfies us, all of a sudden, there's a rush of new ones to "try out". Firefox is just one example. Thunderbird is their email. Both from Mozilla. The next ones Chrome and all it's copycats. I've even tried Dragon/a clone. And I can't even begin to name them all. The only problem I see with Edge is that it is another Chrome copycat. Firefox has very few idiosyncrasies that can be irritating. But the irritations with Chrome and others are just as bad. IMHO you wind up needing more than one browser, but surely not the dozens available. Email is the same. And a lot of other PC stuff. So, as far as I'm concerned, the question of "which is best" is a subjective decision - best left up to the individual and all this yada yada yada is a waste of time. Someone just post a list of all that's available and let each and every one take their own time and find what they like. As for any thing being "better" than Firefox. Again, that's a subjective decision and you can argue day and night about this. And it all winds up to be up to the individual. PERIOD. And just to be fair, I'm going to try Vivaldi. And see what this hullabaloo is all about. Let's hear from others while we're batting this around. All in fun as far as I'm concerned. Firefox is and will be my default.

I have been using Firefox since it first came into being. It was first Called Phoenix, then their name changed to Firebird and finally to Firefox. I have found that if you do not mess with the Chrome settings it will work fine. I stopped fooling with that since Windows 10 first came out. I used to do a great deal of scripting with .CSS but as time went on and Firefox changed to this Photon thing I stopped. I actually stopped right after Firefox 4.0 came out with their first major update. It works great for me now.
