    FireFox disables add-ons

Checking my FireFox 91.0.2settings. Reset Remember History to Never Remember History and my add-ons in the toolbar disappeared. They are still listed in the add-on manager and are turned on but they no longer function. I reset to Remember History and the add-ons go back to functioning and back on the toolbar. Is this normal for FireFox?

    Hi Ron

I once enjoyed using Firefox until I found that my extensions were being disabled too often because Firefox wanted to protect me. Then I moved on to Chrome for almost a year until Chrome started the same game. I have no time or interest in having my online experienced tailored to meet with someone else's expectations on how things should be.

I use a browser that respects my choices and have never looked back since discovering Vivaldi. It has endless options to customize to your preference and has never annoyed me, not even once.

I also use Vivaldi for Android and have them synced to maintain a consistent experience.

You're most welcome. There are many users here using Vivaldi if you have any specific questions and Google can't help.

Got Vivaldi installed on one of my backup drives and pretty much got all the settings where I want them. Now to play with it a while and see how it does.

Congrats, Ron. Have a fun adventure.

FYI, any of the Chrome browser extensions are compatible giving you many more options to choose from. Just search anything for a Chrome browser and download from the Chrome store. Also, blocking trackers, site specifically by clicking the shield to the left of the address bar or site specific permission settings by clicking the lock (left of address bar.

    Some of my favourite extensions include;

Chrometana Pro to fix Edge & Bing
    Dark Reader
    I don't care about cookies

I don't want to spoil your discovery adventure, however; I'll add a few tweaks that I use. I'm sure you'll find more after a short time of use.

    Auto-close interactive panel.

Vivaldi Dark theme can be configured to follow your Windows theme, or Dark at any user preset time or always Dark.

Vivaldi startup session can be your preferred homepage, any specific page or exactly where it was when last closed.

Each open tab has a user interface zoom (in the lower right corner) that is tab dependent so you may zoom (using mouse scroll) a specific tab to facilitate ease while reading, one click to reset to default. This setting allows a preset zoom level for each page.

Appreciate all the help W10 Tweaker. So far so good. Actually pretty simple to use.

I would still like to resolve the FireFox issue.

RE: Firefox. Something probably screwed up your profile folder or some of it's contents. If you have a backup you can try restoring the folder. Possible culprits include:

A faulty Firefox update when upgrading from an older version.
    System cleaners/ optimizers,
Antivirus/ Malware scanners that might have removed something.

So list any backup solutions that you have in place.

    For future profile backups:

Callender, I went back in my 5 Casper 11 bootable backup hard drives which covers FF 91.0.2, 90.02 & 89.0.2 and they all have the same issue. I also have 8 profile backups going back to 1-16-21 and they all do the same thing. If this was occurring before 89.0.2, I do not know. With all the versions and all the backups doing the same thing, this leads me to believe it is a FireFox issue. I cannot believe that I am the only one that has ever had this problem. Has anyone else experienced this or can someone replicate it? Just hate having a problem I cannot find a reason for! OCD???

If all previous versions and profiles do the same (if you've backed up current profile and replaced it with an old one to test:

Then it's time to clean install Firefox. That means full removal including leftovers then a reboot.

After uninstall you need to check for, and delete if found, leftovers here:

    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

Replace Username with your login to windows user account name.
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

    Then install a fresh copy,
