    Is this the Sidebar appearance you are referring to ? If so, you could test,try or play around with some of the CSS suggestions at:
    FF bookmarks sidebar: reducing waste of space : FirefoxCSS

    I am only on FF 102, but I tried the following code in a VM using Firefox beta 103.0b1.
    Code:
    menupopup > menuitem, menupopup > menu {
    padding-block: 0.25px !important;
    }
    :root {
    --arrowpanel-menuitem-padding: 4px 8px !important;
    }

    /* https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/mvxzhr/proton_bookmarks_menu_too_much_padding/  */

    #bookmarks-view-children:-moz-tree-image {margin-left:0px !important;}
    .sidebar-placesTree treechildren::-moz-tree-row {

    min-height: 16px !important;
    height: 18px !important;}

    /*=================================================*/

    Adding this to what I already had works for 103.

    I normally use the bookmark symbol on my customized Tool Bar which was unaffected by 103 but I did notice this 'preview' problem when I checked.

    Thanks..!

    You're welcome. When I wanted to test this an hour or so ago, FF did not present the 103 update on the main machine, so I had to try everything in a VM using a portable version of FF 103 beta !

    das10!
    Thank you very much, your code did the trick. I shall study the Firefox CSS site and experiment more.
    I guess 103 is a major update, CSS messed up and every things look HUGE I had to adjust my default zoom to 80%.
    Thank you again, das10.

    You're welcome. I too found 103 to have a huge interface, and for the time being at least, I have changed the following preference in about:config from its default -1.0 value to 0.85
    Code:
    layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

    Thanks for that. Now, in addition to controlling font and element sizes in CSS, I can try out even more permutations!

    I tried this in Windows 11 Fx 102.1 ESR and either I messed something up (likely) or is does not work in an ESR version??

    Of the 3 preferences listed in the previously linked page, only the "layout.css.devPixelsPerPx" appears to work in versions prior to FF 103. The third one is an older default/'visible' preference, The second one is a new available visible/'default' preference. And the first one maybe a newly implemented one in FF103 , available only when specifically created (and hence unhidden) ?

    ui.textScaleFactor
    browser.display.os-zoom-behavior
    layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

    Try changing that last one, only very slightly, eg. say 0.75 or 1.5 to see some effect.

    (Tested on Win11 Portable firefox 102.1.0esr.)
