Switched from Google Chrome to Firefox ESR

I switched from Google Chrome to Firefox ESR because of Google moved from 6 weeks to 4 weeks release schedule except of I think enterprise customers. What do you think guys?

People will reply when they have something to contribute. Everyone here that helps are volunteers giving up their own time. Patience will go a long way.

IMHO Google and Edge are the worst browsers you can use for privacy. I'm sure that will irritate a lot of people saying that.

Firefox on the other hand, whilst more privacy centric, has somewhat gone off the rails too.

I've been running Firefox ESR for years and the only issue I have is the major version bump. Eg. 68 was followed by 78 which will be followed by 90. Each time the reinvent the UI and not always in a good way. Often, they remove features and you will spend time trying to figure out how to get things back. But because there is such a long support cycle, you have time to prepare for the changes.

Firefox's release schedule is here; Firefox Release Calendar - MozillaWiki

Chrome and Edge are banned on our networks so I can't offer any insights into their stability, but I can tell you, in 6 years I've only had Firefox ESR crash on me once.

I do agree that short update cycles can be annoying. One of the reasons we moved to ESR too.

And what about all the vulnerabilities that don't get patched for a long time due to the extended service release? I would much rather use a browser that was patched quickly and regularly rather than one that gets patched every few months.

You also fail to mention that Chrome Extended Stable was also updated! Or the 15 security vulnerabilities fixed by Firefox ESR with the 11 January release!

Why Google Chrome always patches bunch of security issues and/or sometimes emergency update to patch zero-day vulnerability every next regular stable versions (non extended stable versions) but Firefox ESR (not Firefox regular stable) almost never patches security issues every next ESR versions?

Yeah, I'm not really sure that I would want my browser to not be patched.

Use whatever browser suits you. For years, I used firefox. I switched to Chrome because I felt it handled my synchronized bookmarks and such better across all of my devices. For this reason, i stick with Chrome.
