Firefox 89.9.1 (64-Bit) How to auto download EPUB files

I don't know if this is possible or not but I was wondering if there is a way to auto download EPUB files without needing to confirm every times with Firefox. I have been downloading free ebooks lately and every time I download a .PDF file it will automatically download for me to the downloads folder but when it comes to other file types like .EPUB I need to click the download link and then wait for the window to open asking me what I want Firefox to do. No matter how any .EPUB files I download there is never a option just to download the file.

I don't need a ebook reader on Firefox I just need a fast way to download the files by type and have them just automatically go into the downloads folder.

Is there a way to do this with Firefox itself or do I need to download a downloader of some sort for different file types. Or is this even possible.

I hope I explained myself correctly.
If not just ask me to give more details and I will try.

I have to problems with this I have never seen the checkbox with any .EPUB file I have ever downloaded before and if I look in the "Settings" area all I see for file types are .JEPG Image and .JPG and other common file types I have already set. I have all the image files and media files like .MP3 and .MP4 auto save but there is no listing for .EPUB file types. I don't know why there not listed its odd. Is there any other way to do this other then checking the box or doing this is settings since its not listed in settings. Or is there a way to add the file type to settings?

If you feel up to it, it is possible to add/edit so called mime actions, by editing the "handlers.json" file which should be located in your profiles folder (use windows search so you get the correct one for the profile you are working on and then be sure to make a copy of it in case you make any errors).

Open handlers.json in Notepad, and make sure the word EPUB does not appear anywhere in there. If it does not, then for the epub file handler, replace "exactly" this part of the "beginning" of the file .

    from
    Code:
    {"defaultHandlersVersion":{"en-GB":4},"mimeTypes":{
    with
    Code:
    {"defaultHandlersVersion":{"en-GB":4},"mimeTypes":{"application/epub+zip":{"action":0,"extensions":["epub"]},
    (don't forget the ending comma)

This should at least make the Content Type "EPUB" appear in Settings > Applications: Choose how Firefox handles files....., giving you a choice of Always ask/Save File/Use other. The same method can be used to add other file types for auto downloading etc (see link at bottom and sample added for 'non-existent' EPUBZ file).

When I first downloaded an EPUB file, I was given a choice of what to do with this type of file etc, after which appeared in Settings also.

to make sure there are no errors in your jsn file (copy paste IF you want to check for any errors)

PN: Do not forget to close Firefox, and then make a copy of handlers.json before editing it.

I also asked for help in the Reddit Firefox section on Reddit and was pointed out a add-on that is called "content-Type Fixer" I installed it and then turned it on and then downloaded a .Epub file and then the box asked me what I wanted to do with this file type and then the check box was there to save it every time. So I checked the box and then checked the settings on Firefox and then I removed the add-on and the settings stayed the same for my .Epub files so I think the add-on just did this for me. So I didn't need to worry about the tinkering myself. I even turned off Firefox an restarted it and the settings still remained the same. If I didn't get the response on the Reddit Firefox group I would have tried the above option would have did it this way. But for now the add--on had done the work for me. So if anyone else has the same issue and is to worry about messing something up give the add-on a try it was easier then I thought. A link tot he add-on is at Content-Type Fixer – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-US)

I hope this helps out others as well.
